UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLAR AWARD
The Board of Directors of TACSM has approved an award (maximum of $1000) to be given to a deserving undergraduate student. The intent of the award is to provide money for a student to be used in the pursuit of his/her academic goals.
Submission Deadline- February 1, 2012
Eligibility Requirements- 1) Student member of TACSM 2) Enrolled as an undergraduate in an institution in Texas during the current academic year 3) Declared major in kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field 4) 3.0 GPA for last 60 hours of completed coursework 5) Evidence of involvement outside of class in activities related to the field of kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field 6) Plan to continue in graduate work in kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field 7) Will attend TACSM Annual Meeting
Application Requirements- 1) Personal Statement of 300-500 words describing academic and professional goals, achievements, and activities 2) Resume/Curriculum Vita 3) Official Transcript 4) Two letters of recommendation with at least one from a TACSM member
Submit Application: Submit your application electronically as a single, compiled file (PLEASE do not submit multiple files!) to: C.M. Hearon, PhD, FACSM, TACSM Executive Director.
NOTE: TACSM must issue 1099 forms for all payments to students of $600 or more, so student award winners will be expected to report this income to the IRS if the award checks are made out to them. Or, if the student prefers, TACSM can have the award checks made out to the student’s University. For this to happen, a faculty member at that institution must pre-authorize this and TACSM should be informed prior to the annual meeting.
