TACSM MAJORS OF THE YEAR
TACSM would like to recognize an outstanding undergraduate student in exercise science from each of the undergraduate degree granting institutions in Texas for the 2011-12 academic year. These students will be recognized as the TACSM Major of the Year from their respective institutions. Formal recognition will be made at the 2012 TACSM Annual Meeting in Austin. To this end TACSM is asking each college/university to select a student as its TACSM Major of the Year and forward their name to TACSM.
Submission Deadline-
December 15, 2011
Eligibility Requirements-
1) Student must be a member of TACSM (students who are not yet TACSM members may still be nominated if a membership application is submitted with the nomination).
2) Student must be currently enrolled junior or senior at a college/university in Texas during the current academic year.
3) Student must have a declared major in exercise science or a related field.
4) Student must have at least a 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA.
Submission Process-
1. A brief letter of from the student’s program coordinator or department chair should be submitted to TACSM. The letter should include the student’s: name (as it should appear on the award certificate), college/university, major, e-mail address, and phone number. Additionally, the coordinator/chair should confirm in this letter that the student meets each of the four eligibility requirements.
2. If the student is not a current TACSM member, a completed TACSM membership application for the student should be included.
3. Each college/university may only submit one student as their TACSM Major of the Year unless there are extenuating circumstances (e.g., there are more than one academic majors in the program related to exercise science and each would like to recognize a major of the year, there was a tie in the voting for the major of the year, etc.).
4. The student’s advisor, program coordinator, or department chair should submit the required documents electronically as a single (compiled) pdf document to: C.M. Hearon, PhD, FACSM, TACSM Executive Director. Submissions directly from students will not be accepted.
NOTE: TACSM Majors of the Year must be in attendance at the 2012 TACSM Annual Meeting to be recognized and receive their award certificate.
